Meet Toad! Toad was brought into the local Philly shelter THREE times!

Toad first started his journey at ACCT Philly in March 2022 when his owner was moving out of the country and had to surrender him. He had lived happily with that owner, several children, and another dog for over 3 years, and they had nothing but great things to say about him.

Toad was adopted out from the shelter in April 2022 where he lived harmoniously with kids (aged 1-5), and again the owner had all great things to say. Unfortunately, after 7 months this new owner also had to move to an apartment that didn't allow animals, and Toad ended up at ACCT again.

Within a few days, Toad was adopted out to what we thought was forever! However, he once again ended up back at ACCT in October 2023, when his owners became homeless. He's now looking for his true forever home, where he can be safe and happy for the rest of his days! He's a sweet guy. He loves toys and loves treats but only if you break them up into tiny pieces.

Since Toad has come into our care we have noticed that even though Toad has lived with younger children and dogs before, we do feel best that Toad go to a home with older children as little children can make him a little anxious with their crying. He LOVES toys and food but does not like to share them with other dogs. So it would be best if they are put away when put together if there is another resident pup in the home. Toad is a super low key dog so dogs with lots of energy confuse him a bit and make him feel a little unsure. Ideally, Toad would do best as an only dog where he can be with his owners a bunch or with another very mellow low key kinda dog. As expected, from being tossed around he does suffer with some minor separation anxiety issues that his fosters are working through and we are seeing great improvement.

This guy is tugging at our heart strings and we know he can make someone very happy. Could that be you or someone you know?

Toad is updated on all vaccines, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, dewormed and started on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. He also had a full dental cleaning while in our care.
