Grits, Barley, and Oats didn’t ask for a rough start. They were found abandoned and trembling in a crate outside a South Carolina shelter—alone, terrified, and without anyone to call their own. There were six puppies in total that day. A rescue partner in the South took in three. We took the other three to ensure they didn’t lose their lives before their lives had even really begun.
Since then, Grits, Barley, and Oats have come such a long way. Thanks to loving southern fosters, they’ve gone from frightened little pups to tail-wagging, kiss-giving bundles of joy. They’ve now arrived in our care up north and are continuing to work on their potty training and crate training.
These babies are happy-go-lucky and full of life. They adore other dogs, are great with children, and would likely do just fine with cats as long as introductions are slow and respectful. Each will be fully vetted prior to adoption.
But let’s be real—puppies are work. They require time, patience, consistency, and love. Grits, Barley, and Oats are no exception. They will chew things, wake you up early, and occasionally make a mess on your favorite rug. But they’ll also love you endlessly, grow with your guidance, and become the kind of dog that only happens when someone puts in the effort.
Please note: We do not adopt out siblings or puppies of the same age together. While it may seem sweet, raising littermates together often leads to “sibling syndrome,” which can cause long-term behavioral issues. We’re committed to setting these pups up for lifelong success.
If you’re ready for the chaos, the cuddles, and the commitment—Grits, Barley, or Oats might just be your new best friend.
Let’s turn their shaky start into a solid forever.
