Welcome Bobby! Bobby is a 12 week old Cane Corso and already 38 pounds. HE WILL BE VERY BIG FULL GROWN!! (Meaning easily over 100+ pounds full grown). Bobby came to us from the Amish country after he could not be sold. This is most likely due to his cherry eye that we will be addressing with a specialist for surgery. With Bobby coming from a puppy mill, his socialization was very minimal. He is very shy when meeting new people and other animals, but is opening up in his Foster home slowly. He is fostered with other dogs. He does best with female dogs and if going to a home with another dog it must be a female. A dog friend will definitely help him with his confidence and socializing.
Bobby is learning his potty training and actually very good with letting you know when he needs to go outside. The crate training on the other hand, let’s just say that’s a big work in progress.
We are looking for a family that is familiar with the Cane corso breed or similar breed experience and knows the training and effort it takes into raising this thick headed breed(I say it with all the love). This breed is beautiful and a lot of people want them but as a mom of a mastiff/corso let me tell you THEY ARE A LOT OF WORK (but totally worth it). This breed is NOT for first time dog owners! Bobby is more skittish and under-socialized than a normal puppy as his short life didn’t start off kind to him and will need lots of confidence building and training( which he is getting in foster care but will need to continue in his forever home).
He is fostered with a very dog savvy 2 year old child. However, he would do best with older kids 10+ and a quieter home as the toddler chaos/ temper tantrums do make him a little uneasy from time to time. Bobby does also display some mild signs of resource guarding with his foster fur foster siblings with toys and food so this is something that his future family will need to continue to work on with him.
Bobby will be required to be neutered after one year of age. He will come microchipped, up-to-date on all core vaccines, fecal tested, and started on flea and tick and heartworm prevention prior to adoption.
