Karl is a handsome 2-year-old Black Lab who was found as a stray in South Carolina. Like so many wonderful dogs, he found himself in an overcrowded shelter with an uncertain future before making his way north for a second chance at the life he deserves.
Despite his rough start, Karl is an absolute sweetheart. He is incredibly affectionate, loves being around his people, and forms strong bonds with those he trusts. He gets along well with other dogs, has done great with respectful children, and has been cat tested, showing little interest in feline friends. He is also potty trained and fully vetted prior to adoption.
One thing potential adopters should know is that Karl struggles with separation anxiety. After being abandoned in his past, it is understandable that he worries about being left behind again. Karl thrives when he feels safe, secure, and included as part of the family AND having a dog companion in the home. Because of this, he would do best with an adopter who is committed to helping him work through his separation anxiety using positive reinforcement, structure, and patience, or with someone who spends much of their time at home.
Karl is not a difficult dog—he is simply a dog who wants reassurance that the people he loves are coming back. With consistency, understanding, and a family willing to invest in his emotional well-being, Karl has all the potential to become an incredible lifelong companion.
If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will love you with his whole heart, Karl may be the perfect match for you.
Karl is fully vetted including neuter, rabies distemper and Bordetella vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and started on flea and tick and heartworm preventions.
