Meet River! She came to us as her previous owner was unfortunately going through some challenges and unable to adequately care for River.
River is a 7–9-year-old spayed female hound with a heart as big as her soulful eyes. She weighs about 30 pounds—just the right size for snuggling on the couch without taking up the whole thing!
She’s a medium-energy girl who enjoys a bit of fun followed by plenty of relaxation. Toss a ball for her a few times or give her space to stretch her legs in a yard, and she’ll be your favorite couch buddy for the rest of the evening.
River is crate trained, house trained, and walks politely on leash—an easy companion for someone looking for a dog that’s past the puppy stage but still has some pep in her step. She’s also happy to chew on a bone or toy and can keep herself entertained while you go about your day.
When it comes to other dogs, River is selective. She has lived with dogs before but generally prefers to coexist quietly or have her own space. Because of this, she may do best as the only dog in the home or with a very calm, respectful companion.
River has not been cat tested but would likely prefer a home without cats.
